Photo Opportunities

The Old Library is located right in the heart of Digbeth - Birmingham’s Creative Quarter. This means there are plenty of opportunities for some very unique urban wedding photography! Read on to discover some of our favourite picks from around Digbeth.

Confetti Shot

We absolutely love a confetti shot at The Old Library! Captured just moments after you have said your vows, it is a shot full of love and joy. There are many options for doing your confetti shot with us. You can either have all your guests stand on our front steps behind you, or walk down Gibb Street with your friends and family lining up to throw as you go. As long as your confetti is biodegradable - have fun throwing it as far and high as you can.

Original Victorian side of The Library

Our front entrance looks modern but our back - which faces Heath Mill Lane - still has it’s original Victorian brickwork dating all the way back to 1866. This is a great way to capture some of the tradition of the building you have chosen to get married in!

Gibb Street

Our home on Gibb Street provides a different back drop for each and every wedding, the ever changing nature of our urban and developing surroundings makes for the most unique photography. For a street so small, there are an abundance of angles for your photographer to choose from as you go for a wander down the cobbles!

Zellig Building

Just across the road from The Old Library is the Zellig Building - where our team is based as part of the Zellig family! The building has a range of spots for some awesome photography including the Hanging Men, the Zellig Bridges and our drinks reception locations The Dome and The Nomad.

Digbeth Bridge

We use the word urban quite a lot when describing our photo opportunities, but Digbeth Bridge takes the title of the most urban of them all. A metal bridge heading across one of Birmingham’s many canals, the graffiti, posters and stickers make this location ooze with urban uniqueness!

The Yellow Door

Walking around Digbeth there are many random nooks and crannies that you can find to take some awesome photos in front of. However, The Yellow Shutter Doors on Digbeth High Street and Floodgate Street are fast becoming some of the most popular locations. There are also a host of yellow shutters around Digbeth that offer a similar effect!

Graffiti Art

One of the things Digbeth is most famous for is Graffiti Art! Whatever street you go down in Digbeth, there is some fantastic artwork wherever you look. Having your photograph taken in front of these incredible art pieces will look amazing whenever you do it, but on your wedding day the photos will look even more stunning!

Twilight Shots

On your travels around Digbeth, you may notice the fairy lights above Gibb Street and Floodgate Street. When the sun sets and the lights are twinkling above you, the results are simply stunning.

General Digbeth

There are plenty more locations around our bustling and creative home of Digbeth that you may come across with your photographer. Some are hidden, some are not - but you will have heaps of fun spending some special time with your new spouse finding them!
